AUDIOSLAVE Members Have Different Takes On Christmas

Launch Radio Networks reports: AUDIOSLAVE members Chris Cornell and Tim Commerford both focus their Christmas celebrations around their families. Commerford, the band's bassist, told Launch that his approach to the holiday is based on his kids. "My oldest son Xavier is sort of a Christmas junkie," he said. "He's into it. Three and a half, and he knows what it is, and he believes in Santa Claus, and I believe in him believing for as long as possible."

Cornell, meanwhile, admits that he doesn't care for the rampant consumerism of the holiday season. The vocalist, whose wife Vicky is French, recalled that spending his first Christmas in Paris was an eye-opening experience. "It was so different, it was just so relaxing," he said. "Nobody was really buying anything, they're not big on presents or giving gifts, but the feeling was very relaxed and it was more like what I would want it to be. Like, it's beautiful, it's winter time, families are together — it's not so much about, you know, running around with your tired, suffering credit card and then having to work the next six months to pay it all off."

The Cornells recently had their second child together, a boy named Christopher.

Once the holidays are over, AUDIOSLAVE will continue working on its third album in January.

The group's second effort, "Out of Exile", came out earlier this year. The set's title track is its fourth and latest single.
